Sedgwick County Divorce Records

The local District Court in Sedgwick County has jurisdiction over divorce cases and may grant a divorce. If granted, a divorce legally ends a marriage. The court maintains the complete case file, including the judgment; however, it is not the only public agency providing access to divorce records. The Kansas Office of Vital Statistics also issues divorce certificates to authorized persons for divorces dating back to July 1951.

Under KORA, basic information about a divorce and general divorce files are public; however, highly sensitive documents, such as parenting plans, may only be obtained by the subjects of the record or other authorized individuals.
